Welcome to the Marketing Maatwerk website! This website uses cookies to improve the user experience and to make sure the website works properly. This cookie policy explains what cookies are, which cookies I use, and how you can manage your cookie preferences.
3. Which cookies does this website use?
A. Necessary cookies (always active)
- mm_cookie_consent: stores your cookie choice so you do not have to make it again every visit. Retention: 365 days.
- mm_cookie_versie: remembers under which text of the cookie banner you chose "Accept all". If you chose it before the banner mentioned advertisements from Google and Meta, your choice only counts for statistics and I ask again. Retention: 365 days.
- WordPress session cookies (PHPSESSID, wordpress_*): only active if you log in to the admin area. Deleted when you close your browser.
B. Measuring without cookies (always active, fully anonymous)
I count how often a page is viewed, how often a request comes in and how often someone lands on a page that does not exist, and which site you came from (the name only, for example google.com, never the page). For that, nothing is stored on or read from your device: no cookie, no session number, no identifier that could link two visits together. No IP address is stored either. What is recorded is the page path, the time, the device type and screen width, and the campaign labels if you arrive through a link with utm parameters. If you arrive through a link with a referral code (from a club or an event, for example), a counter for that code goes up by one visit and nothing else.
Because this count places no information on your device and cannot be traced to a person, it falls outside the consent requirement. Why it exists: if I only measured visitors who click "Accept all", I would be steering on a skewed picture that leaves out exactly the privacy-conscious visitor.
C. Detailed measurement (only with your consent)
If you choose "Accept all", I also measure how a visit unfolds: which pages you view in sequence, how far you scroll, which sections come into view, which buttons and links you hover over or click, how long a page is actually open, and where you came from (the website name only, not the full link). These cookies are used for that:
- mm_analytics_sid: a random number to recognise returning visits. Retention: 395 days.
- mm_sessie: a random number that keeps one visit together. Expires after 30 minutes of inactivity.
- mm_variant: remembers which version of a page you were shown if I ever test two variants side by side. Retention: 90 days.
- mm_ref (in your browser's storage, not a cookie): remembers the referral code you arrived with and the date, so the code is still there if you send a request or place an order later. Retention: 30 days. Without consent the code is not stored; it then only exists in the link and in the field you submit yourself.
This measurement system is mine and runs on my own server. I do not sell this measurement data. Only if you have chosen "Accept all" do I tell Google and Meta that a request or order was made (see D); without consent nothing from this measurement goes to anyone else. No IP addresses are stored and no fingerprinting is applied. All measurement data is deleted automatically after 13 months.
Google Analytics. If you choose "Accept all", Google Analytics loads as well. Your browser then connects to Google, which receives your IP address, your browser details and the pages you view. Google sets these cookies:
- _ga: distinguishes visitors from each other. Retention: up to 2 years.
- _ga_<number>: keeps one visit together. Retention: up to 2 years.
Without your consent nothing is fetched from Google. If you later choose necessary cookies only, these two cookies are removed.
D. Marketing and advertising cookies
I advertise with Google and with Meta (Facebook and Instagram). If you choose "Accept all", the Google Ads tag and the Meta pixel load. Your browser then connects to Google and to Meta, which receive your IP address, your browser details and the pages you view. I use this for two things: measuring whether an advertisement leads to a request or an order, and showing visitors of this site an advertisement again later. Google and Meta may also use this data for their own purposes and link it to your account with them if you are logged in there. These cookies are set:
- _gcl_au (Google Ads): recognises whether a visit through an advertisement leads to a request. Retention: 90 days.
- _gcl_aw (Google Ads): only if you arrive through a Google advertisement; remembers the click on that advertisement. Retention: 90 days.
- _fbp (Meta): tells browsers apart for measuring and showing advertisements. Retention: 90 days.
- _fbc (Meta): only if you arrive through an advertisement on Facebook or Instagram; remembers the click on that advertisement. Retention: 90 days.
Google may also set a cookie on its own domain doubleclick.net (IDE) to show and measure advertisements. That cookie belongs to Google and I cannot read or remove it; you do that in your browser or through Google's ad settings.
Without your consent nothing is fetched from Google Ads or Meta and none of these cookies is on your device. If you later choose necessary cookies only, they are removed and nothing more is sent. Refusing has no consequences for what you can do on this site.
7. Why I use two measurements
Without consent I only count anonymously, on my own server. With consent I also use Google Analytics, so I can compare my figures with Search Console.
I use the data from those two measurements to see which pages work and which do not, so I can improve the website. What goes to Google Ads and Meta with your consent is described in 3D.
